Built by a Texas agency, for Texas trades

Trades Lead Engine is the contractor marketing division of FOG Digital Marketing. We took what we’ve learned since 2009 working with Texas businesses and built a system just for the trades.

Who we are

What to know about Trades Lead Engine

FOG Digital Marketing is a Texas digital marketing agency that has worked with more than 950 Texas businesses since 2009, offering web design, SEO, local SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, AI search optimization, and AI call agent solutions.

Trades Lead Engine brings those services together for one audience: HVAC, plumbing, roofing, remodeling, electrical, solar, landscaping, painting, and general contractors. Contractors get a team that understands emergency calls, storm seasons, licensing, and what it takes to turn a search into a booked job.

The short version: we build the website, help you rank in Google’s Map Pack, work to get your company named in AI answers, and make sure the calls that follow get answered. Everything we build stays in your name.

Our story

Why a Texas agency built a division just for contractors

General marketing advice rarely fits a trade business. A plumber’s best lead might call at 11 p.m. with water on the floor. A roofer’s year can change after one spring storm. An HVAC company in July needs its phone answered more than it needs another blog post. Those realities shape how contractors should be marketed, and they are why FOG Digital Marketing created Trades Lead Engine.

In FOG’s work with Texas service businesses, the companies that grow steadily tend to share the same basics: a fast website that explains the work clearly, a complete Google Business Profile, a steady flow of honest reviews, and someone answering the phone. The ones that struggle usually have a gap in at least one of those areas.

Trades Lead Engine packages that pattern into one system for HVAC, plumbing, roofing, remodeling, electrical, solar, landscaping, painting, and general contracting companies. The same agency experience sits behind it. The difference is focus: trade-specific pages, seasonal planning, and reporting that tracks calls and booked jobs rather than vanity numbers.

How we work

From first conversation to monthly report

Every engagement follows the same basic path, so you always know what is happening and why.

01

Start with the Scorecard

We review your website, Google Business Profile, Map Pack rankings, reviews, and AI visibility against the top competitors in your area, then walk you through what we found.

02

Agree on a focused plan

We pick the services and service areas that matter most to your business and set clear priorities. You will know what we are fixing first and what can wait.

03

Build the foundation

We fix or build the website, clean up the Google Business Profile, and set up call tracking. New websites typically launch in 6–10 weeks.

04

Rank and get cited

We build service and city pages, improve local rankings, strengthen reviews, and make your business details consistent so AI assistants have accurate facts to repeat.

05

Capture every call

Where it makes sense, the AI Call Agent answers after-hours and overflow calls in your company’s name, and every lead is tracked to its source.

06

Report in plain English

A one-page monthly report covers rankings, Google Business Profile activity, calls, leads, and reviews, including what is not working yet.

Our standards

Standards we hold ourselves to

You own your assets

Your domain, website, and Google Business Profile stay in your company’s name. If you ever move on, your website and profile stay with you.

No guaranteed #1 promises

No one controls Google’s rankings or AI answers. We promise the work, the transparency, and the reporting.

Within the rules

We follow Google’s Business Profile guidelines and review policies, so your listing is not put at risk by shortcuts.

Plain-English reporting

One-page monthly reports on rankings, calls, leads, and reviews, with no jargon and no padding.

Trade focus

Content and campaigns built around your trade’s seasons, searches, and credentials, not recycled from another industry.

All of Texas

Working with trade contractors all over Texas, from Houston and Dallas–Fort Worth to El Paso, Lubbock, and the Rio Grande Valley.

Ownership promise

Your leads and your assets stay yours

Some marketing arrangements leave contractors renting their own online presence. The agency registers the domain, owns the website, or controls the Google Business Profile, and a contractor who wants to leave finds out they have to start over. We do not work that way.

Your domain, website, and Google Business Profile stay in your company’s name. We work inside accounts you own, with access you can review. Google’s own help center explains how a profile owner can add or remove owners and managers, so you can see exactly who has access at any time.

Leads work the same way. The calls and form submissions your marketing produces belong to your business. We do not share them with competitors or resell them to other contractors.

How we write

How we research, write, and verify content

Contractor websites make claims that homeowners rely on, so we treat accuracy as part of the job. Google’s guidance on creating helpful, reliable, people-first content asks whether content has clear sourcing, shows the expertise behind it, and avoids easily verified factual errors. We write to that standard for our own site and for our clients.

In practice, that means a few firm habits. Statistics come from primary or authoritative sources, such as the U.S. Census Bureau, the National Weather Service, state licensing boards, utilities, and Google’s official documentation, and we link to the source on the page. If we cannot verify a number, we leave it out. Client results appear only with permission and exactly as confirmed.

We revisit pages when rules, programs, or data change. We also avoid tactics that break platform rules or the law. Google’s policies prohibit offering incentives for reviews or selectively asking only happy customers, and the Federal Trade Commission’s final rule bans fake reviews and undisclosed insider reviews. We build review programs that ask every customer, the same way, every time.

Common questions about FOG Digital Marketing and Trades Lead Engine

Plain answers to what contractors usually want to know before a first call.

Is Trades Lead Engine a separate company?

Trades Lead Engine is the contractor marketing division of FOG Digital Marketing. It has the same agency experience behind it, focused only on trade contractors.

Who will I talk to when I reach out?

Requests go to a strategist, who learns about your trade, service area, and goals before recommending anything. If a Scorecard makes sense, the strategist walks you through the findings and explains what to fix first.

Which contractors are a good fit?

HVAC, plumbing, roofing, remodeling, electrical, solar, landscaping, painting, and general contracting companies that want more calls from the areas they actually serve. We work with established companies and newer ones that are building their first real online presence.

Where do you work?

We work with trade contractors all over Texas, including Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, El Paso, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, Waco, Tyler, and the Rio Grande Valley. We work remotely and on site when needed, with local knowledge of the weather, growth, and competition in each market.

Can you promise first-page rankings or AI recommendations?

No. Google and AI assistants decide their own results, and anyone who guarantees a top spot is promising something they do not control. We commit to doing the work well, following the rules, and reporting clearly on progress.

What do you need from me to get started?

Your business name, trade, the city or area you serve, and your website if you have one. That is enough for a strategist to prepare a Scorecard. If we work together later, we will ask for access to accounts you already own, such as your Google Business Profile, rather than creating new ones in our name.

How do you keep up with changes in search and AI?

We follow official documentation from Google and other platforms, watch how rankings and AI answers change for the contractors we work with, and update pages and profiles when rules or features change. When something is uncertain, we say so instead of guessing.

What makes your reports different?

They are short and focused on business outcomes. You will see calls, leads, rankings by area, Google Business Profile activity, and reviews, along with a plain explanation of what changed, what we are doing next, and anything that is not working yet.

What we do

Six services, one system

Each service works on its own, but they work best together. A strong website helps your Google Business Profile rank, reviews help both, and a fast answer turns the resulting calls into jobs.

Contractor Website Design

Fast, mobile-first websites with a page for each core service and the areas you serve.

Local SEO

Map Pack and organic rankings for the searches that bring in real jobs, tracked area by area.

Google Business Profile Management

Categories, services, photos, posts, and review responses kept accurate and active.

AI Search Optimization

Clear, consistent information that helps AI assistants recognize and recommend your company.

AI Call Agent

After-hours and overflow calls answered in your company’s name, with a summary sent to your team.

Reviews & Reputation

A steady, policy-compliant process for earning and responding to reviews.

Trades we serve

Built around nine trades

Each trade has its own emergencies, seasons, and proof that homeowners look for before they call.

Heat-season call capture and replacement pages for AC and heating companies.

Emergency, freeze, and water heater visibility for plumbing companies.

Storm-ready pages, project proof, and fast response for roofers.

Project galleries and detailed scopes for kitchen, bath, and whole-home work.

Panel upgrades, EV chargers, and backup power for electrical contractors.

Education-first marketing for solar and battery installers.

Project galleries and service-area pages for landscape design, installation, and maintenance companies.

Before-and-after proof and clear process pages for interior and exterior painters.

Portfolios, defined scopes, and credentials for additions, renovations, and custom projects.

What we won’t do

Shortcuts we refuse to take

Plenty of tactics can produce a quick bump and then cost a contractor far more. We turn them down, even when a client asks, because the risk lands on your business, not ours.

  • Keyword-stuffed business names. Google’s Business Profile guidelines say your name should reflect your real-world business name, without added marketing taglines or unrelated keywords.
  • Fake locations. The same guidelines say not to create more than one profile for each location. Extra profiles for cities without a staffed location can lead to suspension.
  • Bought, scripted, or filtered reviews. We never pay for reviews, write them, or send requests only to customers we expect to be happy.
  • Copy-and-paste city pages. Pages that only swap the city name do little for homeowners and rarely hold rankings.
  • Shared leads. Your calls and form leads are never sold to or shared with another contractor.

The slower path is the one that lasts. A profile that follows the rules, reviews from real customers, and pages that describe real work keep producing calls long after a shortcut would have been caught.
